At noon, officers were alerted to seeing two quad bikes on the A68 that were believed to have been stolen.
The cyclists failed to stop for the police and the chase ended safely in the Dalkeith area.

A quad bike was recovered and investigations into the accident are ongoing.
The young man was taken into police custody to appear at the Sheriff’s Court in Edinburgh.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At approximately 12:00pm, Thursday 9 March 2023, the police were contacted regarding a sighting of two quad bikes on the A68 in the Scottish Borders, believed to have been stolen.

After the quad bike riders failed to stop for the police, several specialized police resources were deployed, including the police helicopter.
He added, “The pursuit reached a safe conclusion in the Dalkeith area, where one of the quad bikes was found, and an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the accident.”
Investigations are ongoing at this time and there is no risk to the general public.
