Janie Godley says cheering is “better than medicine” while fighting cancer

The 62-year-old comedian thanked her fans for being there during her Not Dead Yet tour.

This comes after she announced that the show would be her last as she battled ovarian cancer.

Janie is undergoing cancer treatment as she is “determined” to go ahead with her tour – which kicked off in Arbroath in February 2023 before closing in London in March.

Through social media, she shared a video of herself walking out on stage in Glasgow while thousands of fans cheered her on.

She said: “3,000 people cheering me on at the Glasgow Small Enterprise Center is better than any medicine – thank you all.”

Janey shared a video this week giving a long thank you to fans after wrapping up her Scottish tour dates.

She also reminded fans of her near-death experience after choking on water in front of a terrified audience, before saving her daughter today.

In footage posted on social media she said: ‘Hi everyone, I’m Janie here. I just want to thank everyone for supporting us all through this tour now that the Scottish leg is done.

“We finished it at the SEC — can you imagine three thousand people and I managed to choke on a little bit of water? The amount of graves I had in my throat but now, I choked on the water.

“But we were fine, we were fine. Ashley got up, improvised and then had a great sing-along, finished the show and we had a standing ovation. So yeah I’m fine.”

She added: “My blood is done and I’m back for chemo tomorrow and then next week we’ll fly to London and then go to Belfast.

“But I just want to thank everyone who came to see the tour. I’ve never had so much love directed at me.

“You guys are amazing and it was good to see Wei Honey (Jannie’s dog) make her debut.

“So much of it was shot, so who knows, maybe we’ll get the whole thing out. Thank you so much, you were great.”
