A team of retained firefighters in Collins is set to bring out sponges and chamois leathers in an effort to raise money for the charity.

This coming Saturday drivers will be invited to take a weekend off from the duty of washing the car and bring it to Cullen Fire Station instead to get a fir in exchange for the donation.

The charity car wash will start at 10am and is scheduled to run until 3pm.

Proceeds from the event are to be shared between Keiran’s Legacy and the Firefighters’ Charitable Foundation.

Kieran’s Legacy, founded in memory of 16-year-old Moray Kieran Makande who was killed in 2016 when the mountain bike he was riding was hit by a car. The charity raises funds to provide automated external defibrillators in local communities.

The Firefighters Charitable Foundation provides lifelong specialist support of many different types tailored to the individual needs of members of the firefighting community across the country.
