Bradley Frost, 62, has suffered serious head injuries after he was allegedly attacked by two men on bicycles while on his driveway on Victoria Drive, Modbury in North East Adelaide.
Emergency services were called shortly after 3pm Thursday to a property after reports of an attack.
Paramedics rushed Mr. Frost to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he passed away the next day.
The police opened an investigation into the incident, which it considered “not a random attack.”

Officers arrested a 32-year-old man shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday for the alleged brutal assault.
He was charged with aggravated assault causing significant damage and was refused bail.
The charge is expected to be upgraded to a more serious charge of murder or first degree murder following the death of the 62-year-old.
After the news passed Mr. Frost, the neighbors paid their respects to the lovable locals who said he was “always ready to help.”
Leonie and Michelle Fraser said Advertiser Mr. Frost “Noor” was Victoria Drive and was like family to them.
“We are all really sad that Brad was a much loved member of the community, especially on our street,” Ms Fraser said.
“We’ve only lived here about six years and it’s been like a family member since we moved in.”
“He was always trying to make the place better… He was the light in the street.”
Victoria Drive resident Niranjan Dasari described Frost as a “gentle giant”.

Police continue to search for a second man in connection with the alleged attack, who is described as Aboriginal with a slim build and wearing a white shirt, dark colored shorts, and a white baseball cap.
They are asking anyone who may have seen the man to call the police.
The couple are said to have been cycling between 2.45pm and 3.30pm on Thursday and traveled southwest along North East Road and south on Reservoir Road.
There were potential sightings of them on Victoria Drive, Montacute Road and McIntyre Road on Thursday afternoon.
